Home Remedies for Children's MUMPS
- For children up to 5 years old: apply Tea Tree
essential oil in a base of Almond Oil to the sore area, back of the neck and abdomen. Use 3 times a day for 10 days.
For children over 5 years old: use a combination of Niaouli, Lemon and Tea Tree in a base of Almond oil; apply as above.
- These essences can be added to a bowl of hot water
for it steam inhalation that is decongestant and assists the body in fighting the infection. They can also be sprayed in the air with a plant spray.
- Wrap a hot water bottle in a towel and let your child
lie on it to soothe the painful swellings. For a younger baby, hold a heated towel against the face and repeat if this seems to be helping.
- Balm, Poke Root and Yarrow have a cleansing effect
on the glandular system. Use singly (an infusion for Yarrow and Balm, a decoction for Poke Root) or combine all three together, sweeten with honey and give as sips 3 times a day.
