Home Remedies for Children's HYPERACTIVITY
Hyperactivity is defined as abnormally overactive and restless behaviour. Children affected by this condition can range from being a bit of a handful to aggressive, violent and extremely difficult to live with.
- Choose a strictly wholefood diet that includes
plenty of fish, poultry, cereals, fruits and vegetables, except those suspected of causing problems. Avoid giving sugar in any form (that is, as sweets, biscuits, cakes or fizzy drinks).
- Massage is a good way of calming an agitated child -
if you can catch him! Massaging either the hands or feet is an ideal way to begin. After a while you may be able to include the shoulders and back.
- Chamomile helps to soothe the nervous system. Add
the appropriate number of drops (see below) to your chosen carrier oil. The essence could also be added to the bath.
Appropriate number of drops Age Drops per 30 ml Base Oil Newborn to 2 months 1-2 drops 2 to 6 months 2-3 drops 6 to 12 months 3-4 drops 1 to 5 years 4-6 drops 5 to 7 years 6-10 drops 7 to 12 years 8-12 drops
- Add up to 15 drops of Chamomile tincture to a glass
of water or small bottle of milk. This is an extremely safe way of soothing a restless baby or child.
