Home Remedies for Children's DEPRESSION
Children can feel depressed from time to time, just like adults. It is quite normal for any of us to go through periods of feeling miserable providing it is only for a short while and there is a tangible reason. Your child may be disappointed by exam results or by the thought of going back to school after the summer holidays.
Sometimes depression is caused by pent-up anger or the inability to cry. Feelings of isolation and loneliness may also bring on depression. In some instances, depression can arise when our physical vitality is low after an illness or as a result of poor nutrition.
Natural remedies can help to lift the spirits and improve mood, but the best way to deal with your child's depression is to pay special attention to him. Try to find out what is causing the problem, discuss it and attempt to provide a solution.
- Add drops of Hypericum tincture to fruit juice or
mineral water, or give herbal tablets (I tablet 3 times a day).
- Sweet Orange or Mandarin can lighten the hearts of
young children. Use it in the bath, in a massage oil, with a few drops on a pillow case and as a vapour around the house. For children over 7 years old you can use Rose and Sandalwood too, perhaps making a blend using 4 drops of each to 30 ml of almond oil.
- For speedy benefits massage the aromatherapy oil
into the feet and hands, concentrating your attention on the endocrine system reflex points.
