Home Remedies for Children's ATHLETE'S FOOT
- Fungi thrive in dark, damp places, so keep the feet
clean and dry.
- Natural fibres should be worn close to the skin
(cotton socks and leather shoes). Allow your child to go barefoot as much as possible. Do not let your child share or borrow shoes or socks.
- Bathe feet regularly in an infusion of Marigold
flowers. You could also add 10 drops of Marigold tincture and 10 drops of Myrrh tincture to a footbath. Your child should soak his feet for at least 5 minutes once a day.
- Dry between the toes thoroughly with a towel and
dust with Calendula (Marigold) talcum powder. If skin is dry and cracked, use Calendula cream instead.
- Tea Tree has potent anti-fungal properties. Make a
therapeutic footbath by placing a handful of coarse sea salt into a bowl of warm water and add 5 drops of Tea Tree essence. The feet should be soaked in this way for 5 minutes a day until the condition clears.
- Natural athlete's foot powder: Add 10 drops of Tea
Tree essence to 1 cup (240 ml) of dry, green clay or talc (available from most healthfood shops). Mix really well and powder the feet with this each day.
- For babies over 6 months old:
Add Tea Tree essence to the bath, then massage the affected area with the essential oil in a base of Almond oil. Afterwards allow your child to go barefoot.
