Aromatherapy Recipe for Burns & Scalds
20ml macerated calendula oil 20ml macerated hypericum oil 3 drops lavender (or tea tree) essential oil
Funnel the macerated oils into a dark glass bottle, add the essential oil and shake well to disperse. Smooth into the affected areas two or three times daily for as long as required.
Aromatherapy Ointment for Burns & Scalds
25g unperfumed skin cream (available from pharmacies) 5 drops frankincense essential oil 5 drops rosemary essential oil 5 drops lavender (or tea tree) essential oil
Mix all essential oils with unperfumed skin cream.
Aromatherapy Compress for Burns & Scalds
300ml cold water 4 drops German chamomile (or tea tree, or lavender) essential oil
Put the water into a bowl, add the essential oil and swish around to disperse. Soak a gauze dressing in the aromatic water, wring out the excess and apply to the burn. Bandage the compress in place, then renew after a few hours. Repeat as often as necessary until pain and inflammation have subsided.
